Honest answers to your questions

I’d rather you feel informed than sold to. Here are the questions people ask me most, answered as truthfully as I can.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Most people describe a deeply relaxed, focused, dreamy state, like just before sleep. You can hear everything, speak, and open your eyes whenever you like.

Can I be made to do or say something I don’t want to?

No. You stay aware and in charge the whole time. Hypnosis can’t override your values or choices.

Does hypnotherapy work for everyone?

Honestly, no single approach works for everyone. Many people feel a real shift; others notice gentler, gradual change; and for some it isn’t the right fit. I can’t guarantee results, but I’ll always be honest about what I see and whether I think I can help.

What if I can’t be hypnotised?

Almost everyone can experience hypnosis. It’s a natural state you already drift into when you’re absorbed in a book or a drive. There’s no way to ‘fail’, and we’ll go at your pace.

Are you a psychologist or a doctor?

No. I’m a clinical hypnotherapist, certified RTT® therapist and coach. I don’t diagnose or prescribe. If you need medical or psychological care, I’ll gently encourage that, and our work can sit alongside it.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

For most people, yes. It isn’t recommended, or needs your doctor’s okay first, if you have certain conditions, such as psychosis, some forms of epilepsy, severe personality disorders, or if you’re in crisis [confirm with RTT® training guidance and insurer]. Please tell me about your health and medication before we begin.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on you. Some people feel a meaningful shift after one hypnotherapy session plus their recording; others prefer a few sessions over time. We’ll decide together, with no pressure.

How does online work? Can we meet in person?

Most sessions are on Zoom from your own comfy space. You just need a quiet room, headphones and a steady connection, and many people find it easier to relax at home. If you live nearby, we can also meet in person in Salt Rock by arrangement.

What’s the personal recording?

After a hypnotherapy session, I make a hypnosis recording just for you. Listening daily for about three weeks helps the new, kinder beliefs settle in. Please don’t listen while driving.

How much does it cost?

The first 15-minute chat is free. A Deep Dive Focus Session (45 min) is USD 110, and it’s credited toward your first hypnotherapy session if you book within 30 days. A hypnotherapy (RTT®) session is USD 600. That includes up to about 150 minutes together in session, your personalised hypnosis recording (to listen to daily for about 21 days) with gentle reflection work, and a follow-up session. Coaching is USD 200 for 60 minutes or USD 300 for 90 minutes. Packages, and prices in rand for South African clients, are on the Sessions and South Africa pages.

Why does a hypnotherapy session cost more than an hour of coaching?

Because it’s much more than an hour. My hourly rate is USD 200, and one hypnotherapy session includes up to about 150 minutes together, the time I spend creating your personalised recording and reflection work, and a follow-up session. It’s a complete piece of work rather than a single appointment.

How do I pay?

International clients pay in US dollars by PayPal when booking through the calendar. South African clients can pay in rand through PayFast, using the payment link on the South Africa page or in your booking confirmation.

What if I need to cancel?

Life happens. Give at least 24 hours’ notice and you can reschedule or get a refund. The full policy is here.

Is what I share private?

Yes. What you share is confidential, with a few safety and legal limits I’ll explain before we start. Your information is handled under South Africa’s POPIA.

Do you only work with women?

No. My work began with women, and they’re still at its heart, but I also work with men, and with couples through individual work: each partner has their own sessions. Everyone who has been holding everything together is welcome.

Can you help with our relationship?

Yes, in my own way. I don’t run joint sessions. Instead, each partner works with me individually in their own hypnotherapy or coaching sessions. As each of you softens old patterns, the way you are together often shifts too. Many people find it a gentle place to start. You can begin on your own, even if your partner isn’t ready yet.

What if I’m in crisis?

Please don’t wait for a reply from me. Call your local emergency number or, in South Africa, SADAG on 0800 567 567.
